Students simulate United Nations discussions at Tustin High
By ELYSSE JAMES

More than 1,500 students, including some from the Czech Republic, gathered this weekend at Tustin High School for the 20th Model United Nations Conference.

Members of Model United Nations from schools across California, plus 15 students and teachers from the Czech Republic, held mock trials and acted as world leaders during the conference.

The students tackled historical and current topics, including World War II, war crimes and child abduction in Uganda, and the impact of Mexican drug cartels.

The conference at Tustin High is the largest west of the Mississippi, said Tustin High MUN Director Linda Levine.

The Tustin High School team is made up of about 250 members and will be competing in the Czech Republic in January and St. Petersburg in March.
